Just at the end of one of our rare cold snaps this winter I found this ice formation. It formed on the downstream of a fallen log. It is about 8 inches high. The main stream is to the right. Some of the detail shots are from slightly right of the overview image and the stream flow images are along the edge of the main stream. I did not see how this built up. The layering suggests to me that it formed when the stream flow was less. These were taken just before a snowstorm and the cold snap was already breaking. I went back the next day with a photo class but it broke up overnight and was gone.
